With its dramatic anticipations of Macbeth, the musical anticipations of Rigoletto and the compression which (on record if not on the stage) becomes a positive merit — all these qualities, helped by a fine performance under Gardelli, make this [Philips] version of Attila an intensely enjoyable set.
